Morgan Schneiderlins ex-fiancee and one-time Arsenal player has been ordered in court to appear at a court hearing on Friday.
The 24-year-old was found guilty of assaulting his ex in January.
The footballer is expected to be sentenced on Friday and was released on bail.
He has already been fined $7,000 and given a six-month restraining order.
A spokesperson for the NSW Police said it was aware of the court proceedings and would be assisting the family.
It is understood the pair had met in the months before the attack and had a sexual relationship.
In a statement, Morgan’s mother said: I am devastated by this news.
Morgan was a good boy, loved by all, loved for the sport and the people who loved him.
Morgan and I met at a bar in New South Wales, where we both went out and danced.
He was a popular member of our group.
I was his best friend.
He loved to drink and to hang out with people.
I would love to see him back.
He will always be my hero and I miss him very much.
I have tried my best to support him through this.
A spokesman for the New South Welsh Police said: “The NSW Police will be working with the NSW Department of Primary Industries and the New England Association of Police Chiefs to ensure the best outcome for Morgan’s safety and wellbeing and for the wider community.”
