Dublin city council is to give the green light to a Gardening Park that will be owned by Irish-based company Millcreek Gardens.
Gardening Park Dublin is to be established on the outskirts of the city centre at the corner of Church Street and Kilbarny Street.
The city-owned land will be available to the public for a period of up to 40 years.
It will be open to the general public and will be the largest and most comprehensive public garden in the world, with approximately 150 hectares (330 acres) of green space.
Dublin City Council is also to be granted permission to build a third Gardening Garden at the site of the current park, which is located next to the city’s St Vincent de Paul church.GARDENING PARK Dublin is the first of its kind in Ireland.
Dubliners first-ever garden at an urban site, built by Irish developers Millcreeks garden will be located in the heart of the Dublin CBD, just a short walk from the city center.
Millcreek, based in Dublin, is one of the largest private gardens in the UK and has offices in London and New York.
It opened the first garden in Ireland in 2012.
The garden, which was built with the help of a £1.3 million grant from the Irish government, is expected to open in 2019.
Mill Creek was established in 1873 in County Clare, Co Mayo.
Millclough Gardens was started in 1886 in the village of St Anns.
The first garden opened in 1876 in Dublin.
The firm was later acquired by Millcrouches successor, Dublin City Council, in 2004 and has since expanded to other locations in Ireland and across the UK.
Mill Clough is the largest privately-owned private garden in Europe and is managed by Dublin’s own Land and Environment Authority.
