Gardeners who love to grow herbs, plants, and other perennials are in luck.
As they age, the plantings get smaller, the soil dries out, and the plant parts get damaged.
This year’s plants include herbs, lilies, herbs that bloom in the fall, and wildflowers.
The topiary is another herb, like rosemary, orchid, and dandelion.
“The topiary garden is a great way to incorporate seasonal plants into your home,” says Lisa F. McBride, an ornamental plant gardener in the Philadelphia area.
“It is a wonderful way to use the natural elements in your garden to add a little character to your home.
It’s an excellent way to take advantage of the spring, summer, and fall seasons.”
For this particular project, she chose to grow a mix of herbs.
“This is a very easy to grow topiary,” McBride says.
“There is just a lot of space in the topiary to grow plants in.”
Herbs, lily, dandelions, and even a wildflower garden will all work great in this garden, McBride adds.
“If you grow herbs in a topiary, you don’t have to cut your lawn to grow the flowers,” she says.
The easiest way to get started is to find a topier spot to plant your herbs.
McBurgess will grow her herbs in an area of her property that is a good size for the herbs.
Once you’ve picked a spot that looks good, McBarge will cut the top in half to create a garden.
“Once you’ve cut the herb, it can be planted in a couple of weeks,” she explains.
McBrien is also adding a variety of flowering plants to the top, including tulips, leeks, and beans.
“When you have a lot in the garden, you can plant as many flowers as you want, McBrien says.
If you want to grow multiple plants, she says, you’ll need to mix them in a garden pot. “
You want to add as many plants as you can for each herb,” she adds.
If you want to grow multiple plants, she says, you’ll need to mix them in a garden pot.
For this project, Mcbarge will plant six varieties of herbs and lilies: roses, limes, mints, lemons, jasmine, and thyme.
“I love the fact that I can grow herbs at the same time in different locations,” McBure says.
When you’ve finished your herbs, you will have a small garden.
You can add some flowers to the plants for a touch of summer color, or plant them on top of a patio to add some warmth.
For a more elaborate topiary experience, McBrance recommends a mixture of rosemary and other plants that can be used to decorate a wall.
“As the year progresses, you may want to try different flowers, especially if you have your garden in the backyard or on a porch,” she notes.
“Add in some plants that are a little more ornamental than others, like lavender or lemon verbena.”
“The herbs will add some color to the garden,” McBrien adds.
